It's been awhile since I've posted a life update, so here goes. After getting married in February to Q, we are happily situated in our two-bedroom home in San Francisco awaiting the arrival of our son, due in May. We are both so thrilled and of course also nervous. Who can predict what can go wrong? At the same time, we're confident that whatever comes to pass, we can handle it together.

I haven't really gathered my thoughts on how I'm feeling, or rather, how being pregnant feels to me. I feel mostly the same besides the physical limitations (can't bend down too much, back hurts, and I can't run as hard as I'd like), and the fashion implications (trying to rock this big belly and not look like a short whale :). I've mostly been focusing on checking off tasks on my checklist: sell bedroom furniture, buy baby things, make appointments, redo the budget, clean this, paint that.

And then baby kicks, like he's doing now. And I think, "oh, he's awake. I'm about to go to bed. Hope he sleeps through the night sooner rather than later when he's born." This interrupts my logistical thought processes, but as soon as I wake up I'm back in "do" mode which is always where I've felt most comfortable.

Having this website done and being happy with it has actually been a big step for me, and part of the reason why I've held off on blogging for so long (since 2013!). I've imported all my old entries, but I'm starting a new section called "Life" for my personal posts.

I'm also excited to have reorganized my portfolio so that I have web, design, and "other" categories. This will hopefully motivate me to draw more and be able to put finished works in the "other" category, which is one of my new year's resolutions. "In progress" works can be documented here in the blog, and finished things will graduate to the portfolio. All well and good in theory...

Other big news besides marriage and baby is new job (yes, AGAIN). I'm hoping to stay at this one longer than the jobs I've had in the past. Q has also started a new job, around the same time I did. I now work as an engineer at Pinterest and he works as a Product Manager at SGN, both of us in SOMA. It's been nice to work in the same vicinity (no more 1.5 hour commute each way for him anymore, thank goodness). Unfortunately, we can't really catch happy hour together because of my delicate situation (I miss alcohol), and once the baby is born I'm not sure how likely our catching a casual drink after work will be.

Ah well. Small complaints in the larger scheme of things. Okay, bedtime. For me at least. :)
